Our Wedding Attire

So I didn't stick completely to my original ideas shared in this post: Thoughts on Bridal Wear (on a budget!). I was pretty close though! This is what I ended up with for me:

Of course, having an outdoor wedding meant people got to see me as I walked to the site.

I think the biggest difference was my dress. My original plan was to buy a cheap white dress. I wanted to prove that spending more money didn't make it better.

I actually got really frustrated looking for a dress. I am not a fan of shopping for clothes. Lucky for me, my coworker had stopped in the Anthropologie Wedding Boutique during her lunch break and discovered their Reception Dresses.

My dress was $210 and was sooooo worth it! This dress is touchable!!! So soft!

I absolutely despised the dresses at David’s Bridal because they felt so plastic and icky. I was sold on Anthropologie's dresses the moment I touched one.

The reception dresses were perfect. I wanted a dress that wouldn't drag on the ground, since the wedding was outside. AND they were in my price range.

The gowns are AMAZING. If you have the budget, this wedding boutique collection is an absolute must! The gowns range from $400 to $2800. Here are a few of the gowns available:

I bought Toms shoes from their wedding collection. I love knowing that a child in need will get a pair of shoes because of my purchase. Thank you, Lynne, for pointing this brand out to me!

I loved how these shoes looked with my dress. 

I wore my jewelry set from my father-in-law. I wanted to modify it, but just didn't get around to it. It went really well with the dress.

My father-in-law got me a set similar to this for Christmas one year.

My groom and stepson were absolutely handsome in their outfits:

They wore black slacks, white buttons ups, black vests and bow ties all purchased from JCPenney. JCPenney had everything on sale for roughly 50% off, then they gave me $30 off in coupons! This worked out perfect because we bought their stuff in two different days. We scored big shopping there.

The boys picked out their favorite colors for their bow ties: pink for my husband and purple for my stepson. The ties also matched the back of their vests, which were a tweedy looking gray. They learned how to tie their ties by watching youtube videos.

They also wore black, high top converse (which you can't see in the above picture, unfortunately). This was following suit with our favorite show, Dr Who. The tenth doctor wore cons with a tux and we immediately decided to emulate this for our wedding.

Cons are totally in style right now. We went to a wedding where the whole bridal party wore cons of varying colors.

My bouquet was just some random flowers that my mom picked up from the grocery store. We divided the flowers out for the tables and I picked some out for the bouquet. My good friend Katie arranged the bouquet and tied them up with floral tape and a peach ribbon.

We didn't have a professional photographer at the wedding, so we are going to grab a groupon for couples portraits. We are going to dress back up in our wedding garb and get our pictures taken at the wedding site.

I think for our first anniversary I’d like us to dress up in our wedding garb for a night on the town. Since my dress isn't a wedding gown, it won't be awkward going out wearing it.

I really love how everything turned out. Looking at the pictures, I wish I had done something more with my hair. When the time came, I just found that I was too busy with everything else. Perhaps I'll do something fun when we get professional portraits.
